A wine country native, Alec Vlastnik began his career in the hospitality industry as busser at a local country club before quickly being taken under the wing of the restaurant’s bar manager and discovering his passion for spirits and the craft of bartending. Finding that he was drawn to the atmosphere and art of creating a well-balanced cocktail far more than his philosophy and business studies, Vlastnik began clocking hands-on experience at 19, and, at the young age of 21, landed his first full time job tending bar at The Hotel Yountville.
Being a young bartender, Vlastnik has worked hard to ensure that his age isn’t associated with inexperience – and is constantly studying classic cocktail recipes, taking time to learn more about the history of spirits and experimenting with new recipes. His work ethic has been recognized and rewarded with positions at acclaimed restaurants such as The Meritage Resort, La Rosa Tequilaria and, most recently, the title of Bar Manager at Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen before joining the spoonbar team in the spring of 2015.
Outside of work Vlastnik enjoys playing baseball in a local league, venturing to concerts and spending time outdoors with his Boxer puppy, Cosmo.
